The idea of this themed class is to celebrate the birthday (14 december 1883) of the founder of Aikido. This can be done on different ways, here are some samples of things you can easily do with the group:
- a training with a lot of Fun-damentalsÂ
- use balloons themed class
- one of the parcours with celebration items (fake gifts/balloons)
But one great idea for this class is based upon a fortune cookie. How it works is up to you, if you have time: make fortune cookies for your students. (Otherwise little gift wrap/origami the ‘message’ works too.) The idea is that everyone get’s to grab one ‘cookie/gift’ when the teachers tells them too. In this gift there is a note: each note tells them what to do next:
- sing happy birthday (in Japanese!)
- make <current age of osensei> amount of <exercise/ukemi>
- ask your sensei to show o’sensei’s favourite technique (you can make one up)
- who of your student’s birthday is closest to O’sensei’s?
- do <technique> the amount of <seconds: age> before switchingÂ
- make a birthday picture (fundamental: seminar group picture)
- … etc.
Ofcourse you can also add famous qoutes of o’sensei. This way you’ll be sure to finish class on time.
As a little gift how awesome would it be to be standing next to O’sensei? We made that just as easy as standing next to the teacher of a seminar. Just download the (power point) files and get started! Â
